Representatives of the Carpathian Euroregion countries will come to the water sports festival in Transcarpathia

Today, August 1, Robert Levytsky, the chairman of the Transcarpathian Water Sports Federation, spoke about the purpose of the event at a press conference at the press center of the RSA.  

The aim of the event is to promote healthy lifestyles and water sports among the population; strengthening good neighborly relations among the Carpathian Euroregion countries; demonstration of sports, recreational and tourist opportunities in Transcarpathia; holding the Masters Swimming Championship of Ukraine and the Carpathian Euroregion Water Polo Cup among veterans as part of the festival.

In our region, such an event is going to be held for the second time. This year, the organizers of the festival are the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, the Swimming Federation of Ukraine, Transcarpathian Regional State Administration, Transcarpathian Regional Council, Uzhgorod City Council, Federation of Water Sports in Transcarpathian region.

According to the chief judge of the competition Serhiy Pylyp, it will be a powerful festival, which has no analogues at least in Western Ukraine. Several hundred people will participate in it. In addition to competitions, there will be a seminar of swimming judges, various events, a battle. The highlight of the event will be the visit of the champion and world record holder Mykhailo Romanchuk, participant of the four Olympic Games Denis Silantyev, vice-president of LEN, president of the Swimming Federation of Ukraine Andriy Vlaskov and more.

Israfil Vasylkin, the senior coach of the Transcarpathian water polo team, noted that such events attract a lot of people all over the world. For example, at the World Championship, there are 10 thousand swimmers alone!     

In his turn, Ernest Samsonchyk, the chairman of the Transcarpathian Youth Council, noted that the festival is important for attracting tourists to the region. Like, for example, Kosice is known for its marathon, Uzhgorod can become even more popular thatnks to the Water Sports Festival.

The event will be held on September 13 – 15 in the Aquacomplex "Europe" (the village of Solomonovo, Uzhgorod district).
