Refugees learned to be lifeguards

Disappointing medical statistics shows that 60% of victims of various accidents and disasters, as well as of sudden deterioration in health could have been saved if the professional help had been provided timely. Unfortunately, most people do not have these skills, and when the next person suddenly becomes ill or is injured, or gets into danger, they can not provide the right care, and consequently save lives. The Day of First Aid is celebrated in Europe on September 13. On this day Red Cross workers in Ukraine and other foreign countries try to remind of the importance of the ability to provide first aid. For this purpose, they conduct a series of information events at the central streets of the cities and in communities, promoting knowledge. Trained coaches and instructors demonstrate practical skills organizing demonstrations with dummies. 

Подібний захід відбувся для сімей та дітей біженців, які шукають притулку в Україні та знаходяться в ПТРБ м. Мукачево.  Інструктор обласної організації Товариства Ірина Кожанова  провела  для них показовий тренінг з надання першої невідкладної допомоги. Охочі  могли відчути себе рятівниками, спробувати виконати всі необхідні дії на манекенах, здобути навички по наданню штучного дихання та непрямого масажу серця та інших видів допомоги. Крім цього, працівниками Товариства  були роздані підопічним пункту тимчасового розміщення біженців в Мукачеві гігієнічні набори, взуття, іграшки, набори для новонароджених, канцелярські товари для шкільнят та інше. 

A similar event was held for families and children of refugees in Mukachevo refugee center.  Instructor of the Red Cross regional organization Irina Kozhanova conducted for them a revealing training on how to provide first aid. Anyone could try to complete all the necessary steps on mannequins, gain skills to provide artificial respiration and indirect heart massage and other types of assistance. In addition, employees of the Red Cross distributed to wards of the temporary accommodation center in Mukachevo hygiene kits, shoes, toys, newborn kits, stationery for schoolchildren and more.
