Rector of UzhNU held training courses for European neurosurgeons in Jerusalem

Training sessions of the European Association of Neurosurgical Societies (EANS) took place last week in Jerusalem, Israel. They are held three times a year in different countries around the world with a cycle of 4 years and are the most important and most powerful among all the EANS courses. The attendees are neurosurgeons aged 25 to 40 years old, while lecturers and trainers are leading world experts. The rector of Uzhgorod National University is also a member of the training committee of the European Association of Neurosurgical Societies. By the way, Volodymyr Smolanka is the only Ukrainian doctor of all medical specialties, who teaches at the courses of European associations.

In the comments to the official website of UzhNU, Professor V. Smolanka said: "During the 4-year cycle courses, we teach the following large blocks of topics: vascular neurosurgery, spine and spinal cord neurosurgery, cancer neurosurgery, and also central nervous system trauma. This time, the courses were dedicated to vascular neurosurgery. During those days, I was chairing meetings, delivered a lecture and moderated 8 discussion groups. It is a format when the teacher presents clinical cases, which we discuss with the audience together."

We will add that Professor Volodymyr Smolanka has been one of 30 members of the training committee of the European Association of Neurosurgical Societies for seven years. During this time, more than 20 Ukrainian neurosurgeons have attended the training courses like those in Jerusalem.
