Yesterday Charles University Rector, Professor Tomas Zima, was given an honorary doctorate – Doctor Honoris Causa – of Uzhgorod National University. The ceremony took place during a meeting of the Conference of the labor collective of UzhNU.
The professor received the honorary title particularly for the development and deepening of cooperation with UzhNU and assistance in professional training in the region of Central Europe. Tomas Zima expressed appreciation for the award and told in details about the university headed by him. Charles University was founded in 1348 and is the oldest university in Central Europe. The university provides training under more than 300 accredited curricula. It consists of 17 departments, employs more than 8 thousand employees, 51 thousand students study there. Every year, the university becomes alma mater for more than 8,000 graduates.
More than 170 graduate programs in Charles University are implemented in foreign languages (English, German, French). University is in the top 2% among 18,000 universities in the world. According to the European Commission, the main university of the Czech Republic occupies the seventh place in the ranking of popularity among students and teachers of the continent.
Yesterday, they signed the agreement on cooperation between Uzhgorod National University and Charles University.
