“Rainbow” contraband was detained on the border with Hungary

Vibrant colorful umbrellas would have served well the charming ladies of our region if they had been legally imported into the territory of Ukraine. This unusual contraband was found yesterday by the border guards of the Chop detachment at the checkpoint "Tisa".

When checking a minibus Volkswagen with Polish registration, which was entering Ukraine at 2 am, the law enforcement officers decided that the additional structures in the vehicle interior looked suspicious, so they decided to inspect it in depth.

During this inspection, the joint border guard and customs group found a specially made cache between the cabin and the luggage compartment of the vehicle. Using a sheet of plywood disguised with a sheath, the driver formed a space where 132 umbrellas were hidden. A 34-year-old Hungarian citizen tried to import them into the territory of our country.

According to the current legislation, the smuggled goods and the vehicle were seized by the SFS employees. The value of the umbrellas is currently being established, the 1997 minivan cost the owner 42,265 hryvnias.
