June 11, within the project "Plan your family’s health!", at the "Uzhgorod National University" (14 Universytetska St.), there was the informative and educational quest for youth "Plan your family – plan your health!".
"This is one of the events within the "Plan your family’s health" project, which started in April this year. – Marianna Kolodiy, the Director of the Transcarpathian Regional Centre for Gender Education at the UzhNU said. – It was initiated by the Uzhgorod Press Club, NGO "Mahasotsium" and the Center for Gender Education at the UzhNU. We have chosen the format of a quest, because we draw young people’s attention to current and important issues of reproductive health and future family planning".
The teams had to overcome the route of the quest (over 8 km, although usually the route is 17 km), answering specific questions. According to the organizers, they chose questions related to personal and sexual hygiene, planning of sex life, that is, ordinary important everyday issues in the life of a young and any person.
According to the organizers, at the beginning of the work on the project they had sociological data that in Transcarpathia, people’s awareness on the preservation of reproductive health and family planning was rather low. This was confirmed during the campaign: almost all the teams failed to finish the route without using prompts. This suggests that the level of education of the population, especially young people, in matters of reproductive health is rather low.
The quest revealed, first of all, many issues which need to be worked on with youth. The organizers say that effective educational activities can be conducted with such means and methods.
