Punishment for drunk driving wiil be much more severe!

The penalties for drunk driving in Ukraine will increase

There will be a significant increase in amounts of fines, disqualification for driving for up to five years with compensated seizure of the vehicle for driving under alcohol or other kind of intoxication.

Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine increased responsibility for driving the vehicle while intoxicated.

The law establishes criminal penalties for willful failure to obey the judgment on the disqualification for driving.

In particular, driving of motor vehicles by persons in a state of alcoholic, narcotic or other intoxication or under the influence of drugs, reducing their attention and fast reaction, shall be punishable by a fine of 200 to 350 tax-free minimum incomes, or deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a term of three to four years.

If a driver, within a year, repeatedly drives while intoxicated, such driver shall be deprived of the right to drive vehicles for a period of four to five years with compensated seizure of the vehicle or administrative arrest for a period of 10 to 15 days with compensated seizure of the vehicle.

After the President has signed the law, it comes into force on the day following its publication.
