Public sector employees blocked the Kyiv-Chop highway near the post Nyzhni Vorota

 In this way, employees of the medical and educational spheres of Volovets district protest against the wage arrears for the last 2-3 months.

According to the correspondent of the Mukachevo.net from the scene, people are walking on the pedestrian crossing at the "Nyzhni Vorota" post, which is located on one of the passes on the border of Transcarpathian and Lviv regions. The protesters block only trucks, but let passenger cars and minivans through.

The protest started at about 5:00 pm, and as a result around 6:00 pm, a huge queue of trucks formed on both sides of the post.

According to very approximate estimates, about 50-80 people take part in the protest. According to the Mukachevo.net, those are employees of the educational and medical spheres of Volovets district, who have not received salaries for several months now. At the same time, there are wage arrears in other districts of the region, in particular in Khust, Vynogradiv, Tyachiv and other districts. It affected medics and educators.

The participants of the protest, in addition to the Ukrainian flag, are holding posters with demands to pay off debts. The protesters demand a meeting with the authorities and are not planning to leave.

The problem arose a long time ago and it is related to the government subsidies for the region. Their government supposedly transferred them to Transcarpathia back in November and the Regional Council on November 30 even redistributed these subsidies among the districts. 

However, as the deputies of the Regional Council and employees of the RSA told the Mukachevo.net, in fact, this money was transferred and distributed only on paper. It has not been transferred to the accounts yet, and, according to preliminary forecasts, may be available no sooner than next week.
