Public hearings on street renaming will be held in Uzhgorod

On Thursday, May 17, public hearings to discuss proposals for naming (renaming) of streets and squares will be held. Anyone can participate in the discussion, the press service of Uzhgorod City Council reported.

According to the decision of the Mayor of 13.03.2018 No. 107 "On conducting public discussion", pursuant to the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine of October 24, 2012 No. 989 "On Approval of the Procedure for Conducting Public Discussions when Considering Issues Concerning the Assignment of Names (Aliases) of Individuals, Jubilees and Holiday Dates, Names and Dates of Historical Events to Legal Entities and Property Owned by Individuals", on May 17, 2018 at 16.00, a public hearing to discuss proposals for naming (renaming) of streets and squares will be held in the large hall of the Uzhgorod City Council. 

1. To name one of the new streets after Dmytro Popovich (November 7, 1899 – October 3, 1968, teacher, writer, public and church figure, sentenced to 25 years for refusing to convert to Moscow Orthodoxy). 

2. To name one of the new streets after Konstyantin Hrabar (August 15, 1877 – November 21, 1938, Greek Catholic priest, governor of Subcarpathian Rus). 

3. To name the square on the corner of Dmytro Vakarov and Pidhirna streets after Gavrilo Gluck (19.05.1912 – 11.02.1983, Ukrainian painter, Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR). 

4. To rename Leonid Govorov street to Vasyl Svyda street (22.10.1913 – 19.04.1989, Ukrainian sculptor, people’s artist of Ukraine, laureate of the  

5. To rename Peremoha street to Kapushanska street (historical name).

6. To rename Karol Meisarosh street to Anton Kashshay street, and Anton Kashshay street to Karol Meisarosh street.
