Prosecutor’s office instituted the criminal proceedings against the customs officer who took a bribe in the amount of $17800 and against the entrepreneur who gave it to him

Yesterday, June 26, the Transcarpathian region prosecutor’s office instituted the criminal proceedings against a head of the Chop customs office ‘Tysa’ for the demanding and receiving the bribe in the amount of $17800 (part 3, Article 386 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), and against the entrepreneur, who gave the bribe (Part 2 Art .369 the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to research examination and the materials provided by Organized Crime Control Authority MIA in the Transcarpathian region, it was revealed that in the evening on June 25, the head of Chop customs office B. being in his own apartment in Uzhgorod, received the bribe from businessman in the amount of $17800. For this amount customs officer promised, by using his official position, to facilitate the smooth customs clearance of goods that belonged to the subjects of foreign economic activity, which were carried on the territory of Ukraine through the customs post ‘Tysa’. In case of customs officer’s guilt is proofed in the court, he faces imprisonment for a term of eight up to twelve years with confiscation of property.

Also the Transcarpathian region Prosecutor’s office instituted criminal proceedings against the citizens who gave the bribe to the customs officer – (Part 2, Art. 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – is punishable by imprisonment for a term of three up to eight years with confiscation of property) – informs the press office the Transcarpathian region Prosecutor’s Office.
