Project “1930”: saving the Prague hydrants

We, the initiative group of citizens and NGOs of Uzhgorod, want to restore the network of historical hydrants, which is being destroyed by time and indifference of townspeople.
The Prague fire hydrants appeared on the streets of Uzhgorod in 1930 – with the construction of the water supply system. The project of the city water supply system was developed by the engineering firm of Jaroslav Matička (Czech: Ing. Jaroslav Matička), the head office of which was located in Prague. The same company was installing fire hydrants.
Once, there were almost 500 such hydrants in the city. Now, there are just about 80, and every year their number becomes less and less.
Now, the Prague hydrants are not used for the intended purpose.
We want to rehabilitate the fire hydrants in Uzhgorod. Our historical hydrants have become a feature of the urban environment.
They are a real hallmark of Uzhgorod.
We, residents of Uzhgorod, have to preserve and restore the 1930 hydrants! This is our space! This is our city!
