In Chop, law enforcement officers detained a local resident who was selling an RGD-5 grenade with a fuse to it. The same grenade was found in the suspect’s house during a sanctioned search. Policemen of the Uzhgorod police department initiated a criminal proceeding.
Yesterday, May 10, employees of the criminal police sector detained a previously convicted resident of Chop for the sale of ammunition. The 47-year-old man was selling an RGD-5 grenade and a fuse to it for 1,000 hryvnias.
On the same day, law enforcement officers conducted an authorized search in the house of the suspect. In one room, the policemen found another RGD-5 grenade with a fuse to it. The said items were seized and sent for examination.
Investigators of Uzhgorod police department opened a criminal proceeding under Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Illegal handling of weapons, ammunition, or explosives). The sanction of the article provides for a punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of two to five years.
