Policemen arrested a man, who was shooting at workers who tried cut off his electricity supply for debts

For 15 hours, the policemen were negotiating with a man who shot from an unregistered gun at the employees of the "Zakarpattyaoblenergo" PJSC and locked himself in his own home. There are no victims as a result of the incident. The resident of Sokyrnytsia was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the CPC of Ukraine. An investigation has been initiated. 

Yesterday, September 11, at 13:04, a resident of the village of Sokyrnytsia in Khust district reported to the police that his fellow villager living on Zelena street was shooting at workers who tried to disconnect his house from power grid for debts.

The owner saw the men in front of his own yard, ran to the second floor of his house and started firing at one of them. The owner of the house forced another man to connect the power line.

A group of policemen arrived at the scene. The policemen were negotiating with the man, who locked himself in his own house with a gun and did not want to come out, for 15 hours.

Around 4 o’clock in the morning, the man was detained by the police in accordance with Article 208 of the CPC of Ukraine. As law enforcement officers found out, the "IZh-18E" shotgun, with which the shots were made, was unregistered.

All circumstances of the hooligan actions are being established by investigators. A criminal proceeding over the incident was opened under Part 4 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Hooliganism).
