Officers of the Uzhgorod Police Prevention Sector detained a 43-year-old man for a theft from a supermarket. In two days a resident of the village of Onokovtsi three times stole expensive alcohol and other things from storage cells in a shopping center. The theft is being investigated.
Uzhgorod police department received a report from a security guard of a shopping center on Kapushanska Street. The man reported that an unknown person had stolen from the store a bottle of alcohol worth 1,350 UAH.
At the scene, the policemen checked the information, watched the footage from the surveillance cameras, interviewed witnesses and staff at the facility. It was found out that the theft had been committed by a 43-year-old previously convicted resident of the village of Onokivtsi in Uzhgorod district. In the course of the investigation, the police also found out that the man had also stolen from the supermarket bottles of alcohol at about 3 thousand hryvnias, as well as personal belongings of the customers from the storage cells in the trading hall.
The police are conducting an investigation into the matter under Article 180 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Theft). The stolen items were found at the suspect’s place of residence. The case is under investigation.
