Poland began issuing two-years tourist visas to Ukrainians

On December 5, Polish consulates in Ukraine began issuing two-years tourist visas for Ukrainians who have previously visited the Schengen zone countries for tourism purposes without any violations.

It was reported by the UNIAN referring to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland.

"This applies to persons who have previously had at least two Schengen visas for tourism purposes (including one Polish) who have lawfully used and have proof of payment for tourist services in Poland for at least three days", – the ministry informed.

Previously, Polish consulates issued tourist visas for a maximum of one year.

The Polish party informed the Ukrainian party about innovations at mutual consular consultations.

The Foreign Ministry of Poland reported that the parties discussed the functioning of the local border traffic (LBT) with Ukraine, which has been in effect since the summer of 2008 and within which Ukrainians can visit Poland without visas.

"We assess the results of the introduction of local border traffic as very positive, and violations occur very rarely. In this regard, the Polish party sees no reason not to expand the LBT area," – they noted in the statement.

However, the Ministry noted that the expansion to 50+ from the current 30+ km requires consent of the EU and it "will not be a simple process."

Earlier the Ambassador of Ukraine Andriy Deshchytsya reported that Poland was liberalizing the visa regime with Ukraine.
