Pope Francis met with pilgrims from the Mukachevo Greek Catholic Diocese and Transcarpathian bishops Milan Shashik and Nil Lushchak.
According to the Vatican website, the Transcarpathian believers made a visit this morning, December 11, at St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome for a pilgrimage on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Greek Catholic Church coming out of the underground.
Pope Francis emphasized that the Church of Mukachevo is the mother of many martyrs who have attested their faithfulness to Christ and to the Catholic Church with their own blood.
In particular, the head of the Catholic Church mentioned the blessed martyr Theodore Romzha.
Finally, the Pope sent his best regards to all Transcarpathians, and above all, children, sick and those who are suffering.
