On January 26, the exhibition of a Hungarian photographer Laszlo Veig "Transcarpathia in the shadow of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict" opened at the museum of photography Mai Mano in Budapest – the Mukachevo.net informs.
The photos are the result of traveling in Transcarpathia for two years. Laszlo Veig has repeatedly visited Transcarpathia. Here he met the soldiers returning home from the front, talked to members of the fallen soldiers’ families, Tatar refugees and with ordinary Transcarpathians.
– At the beginning, I was interested primarily in showing how the lives of ordinary people were affected by the conflict in eastern Ukraine. I saw a lot of pain, suffering, but I also saw the human will to fight, – Laszlo Veig said.
Last year the Hungarian photographer received the first prize of the prestigious international contest Picture of the Year International (POYI) for the photo report from Transcarpathia.
Entrance to the exhibition is free, it will last until March 12.
