Petofi Square: a terrace or a parking lot? (Photo)

Another landscaping, or rather commercial facility in Uzhgorod. Petofi Square received a large terrace from the establishment, located at the corner of the pedestrian zone. However, the terrace of more than fifty square meters in area is located not near the owner, but near another shop.

Uzhgorod residents immediately responded to the new object. In particular, the whole debate broke out in the group "Uzhgorod" in facebook.

The first thing they ask is whether there are any permissions for that. And the second – how this terrace is consistent with the intent to arrange ​​paid parking on the square. The Deputy Mayor Yaroslav Shafar, who is in charge of, among other things, entrepreneurship, said that he would request to move the terrace to establish parking machine. However, they do have permission for it from the executive committee.

He said: "The executive committee approved it. The documents are on the site of the City Council. But if I manage to move parking to the pavement and install a parking machine, the situation will change. Especially since the draft desicion on summer terraces, to be considered at City Council session, clearly states that terraces can not be placed on the roadway. The architecture department gave its approval."  

So, most likely, the brand new terrace will be moved. Meanwhile, Uzhgorod residents discuss the new look of Petofi square. One of the question is whether new terraces will continue to appear on the square.
