Peacekeeping mission is our last chance for a peaceful resolution of the conflict – Victor Baloha

The MP from Transcarpathia wrote that on his Facebook page:

"Peacekeeping mission is our last chance for a peaceful resolution of the conflict. Of course, it does not solve all problems, but here is what it gives us:

1. Freezing of the conflict. This is worse than a complete defeat of the enemy, but better than war that we still can not win;

2. This rules out a full-scale offensive on other Ukrainian cities – Mariupol, Kramatorsk, Artemivsk, Slovyansk.

3. This stops the project "federalization of Ukraine." We risk losing the battle for the Donbas, but win the war for European Ukraine.

Clearly, this is the perfect scenario in our current situation. Putin is clearly not satisfied with it and he will block it in the UN Security Council. But disrupting the peace initiative, he drives himself into a trap and gives the West the reason to give us lethal weapons and further isolate Russia.

It is also clear that it’s a long process. But this is our chance to put pressure not only on Russia but also on the West and force them to act more decisively – not only with concerns and second-hand from military warehouses. If they do not want to give peacekeepers, to send their soldiers to fight in eastern Ukraine against Putin, let them help us with credits and modern weaponry. But immediately.

Of course, this is not a panacea. Of course, chances are slim. But it’s better than Minsk-2,3,4,5 etc." – the deputy said.
