Today, the Foreign Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin visited Uzhgorod. After the opening of the park on Bachynsky square, he held a press conference for journalists in the Uzhgorod castle chapel. He said he was glad to be in Transcarpathia, for which he has many plans. "We have to grant this region a special status, not only culturally but also in terms of establishing economic ties with Europe. We are working out on many projects, joint meetings, government agreements. In particular, we talked about such meeting with Slovak counterparts.
As for the plans, not so long ago we talked with a representative of the Government of Hungary on introduction of joint border control on checkpoints. That is, first we’ll make the borders European, and then make them disappeare altogether," – the Minister said.
Pavlo Klimkin also talked about the situation in the Donbas, that the Crimea would be Ukrainian again much sooner than many people think, about biometric passports and even Minsk agreements.
The wife of an officer of the State Space Agency, who was forced to leave the Crimea with his family and now lives in Mukachevo, thanked the minister for his work, but still asked him to make every effort in the matters of the return of the peninsula. Klimkin asked the woman to thank her husband for the officer’s courage and patriotism.
