Past and present of the main building of the region – the Local Government of Subcarpathian Rus (PHOTOS)

In 1930, talented Slovak architect Frantisek Krupka completed the development of the project of the building of the Local Government of Subcarpathian Rus. The building was built in the center of the horseshoe-shaped silhouette of the Small Galagov quarter. The construction of the 6-story reinforced concrete government building of rectangular shape began in 1932. The general contractor and developer was the well-known Prague company Lanna ASS. The front facade with its portal and columns, antabeltment and lysens has distinct signs of neoclassicism. In total, 24 million Czech crowns were spent for the construction of the government building. The construction was completed in 1936.

The building of the Local Government was equipped with two passenger lifts, one of which is still operating. The manufacturer of the lifts for this building is the compnay ČKD (Českomoravská Kolben Daněk).

The atrium of the building has a height of three floors and ends with a glass ceiling, which allows daylight to pass not only to the atrium, but also to the corridors and stairs. The atrium space was used for solemn receptions, balls and concerts, since it was designed with unique acoustic properties.
