“Pass the Fire of Victory” – Olympic baton started in Ukraine

Transcarpathian athletes solemnly lit the symbolic Olympic torch from the Eternal Fire on the Hill of Fame in Uzhgorod. More than 30 marathoners travelled and ran with it to the border of two regions: Transcarpathian and Lviv, where the solemn transfer of the Olympic torch relay took place. The participants of the Olympic Games, snowboarders Joseph Penyak and Anne-Marie Chundak passed on the Fire of Victory to Lviv 2008 Olympic champion in shooting Alexander Petriva.

Thus, the Fire of Victory will be carried through all the regions of Ukraine. And on July 21 in Kiev, it will be received by Ukrainian Olympians, who, that day, will go to the Olympics in London to get a big victory.

Note: Ukraine is sending to London 245 athletes, who will compete in 28 sports. In athletics – 78 athletes, 24 – in rowing, 14 – in swimming, 10 – in wrestling and judo.
