The procedure for partner births under the quarantine restrictions caused by the spread of COVID-19 was approved at the Uzhgorod City Maternity Hospital. The order was signed yesterday, October 6, by the director of the municipal non-profit enterprise Oleh Onopko.
According to the document, which comes into force tomorrow, October 8, the partner during childbirth may be only one person who lives with the pregnant woman and is in constant contact with her. Visiting by other persons is prohibited.
Upon admission of a pregnant woman to the admission department, the potential partner must have means personal protection (robe, boot covers, hat, gloves, medical masks, antiseptics) for their own use, be healthy, undergo thermometry in the admission department and inform staff about the absence of possible contact with COVID-19 patients.
After the childbirth, the partner can stay with the woman in the postpartum ward, provided that all quarantine measures, general hospital regulations are observed and taking into account the interests of other patients of the institution.
During postpartum care for the mother and her child, the partner is forbidden to leave the institution.
If the potential partner is not a member of the pregnant woman’s family (relative, friend, doula, etc.), the administration of the institution reserves the right to request the results of ELISA (immunoglobulin M) testing.
Leaving the maternity hospital before the woman is discharged, non-compliance with the rules of stay in the institution, ignoring the use of means of personal protection are grounds for termination of the partner’s right to partnership.
