Parliament will make Ukrainians refuse from beer

Parliamentarians are preparing further changes to the Tax Code. This time the deputy Pavlo Klymets was induced to legislative initiative by his desire to combat the spread of beer alcoholism. The bill, which proposes in 2013 to equal the excise duty for beer with that for other alcoholic beverages, and starting in 2014 to set it at 1.5x of the rates on alcoholic beverages, has been registered in the parliament, reported "Sudebno-yuridicheskaya gazeta".

Explanatory note to the draft law explains that raising of excise taxes and, consequently, the price of beer, will limit consumption thereof.
