Park “Synevyr”: save the forest from fires!

During the summer period, more people visit the forest to gather mushrooms, berries or for a picnic. But not all visitors know the rules of fire handling in forests. Therefore, to prevent fires, workers of the park "Synevyr" take various measures to ensure an adequate level of fire safety.

In accordance with the Law of Ukraine "On Fire Safety" and "Rules of fire safety in the forests of Ukraine", the fire hazardous period in the forests of the Park "Synevyr" lasts from the moment of snow cover melting until the onset of stable wet autumn weather or snow cover formation.

During the fire hazardous period, all vehicles, except those used for environmental and recreational purposes, are prohibited to enter into forests and tracts. In environmental research departments, they set around the clock monitoring for this period and formed mobile teams of state protection service employees. Also, in the national park they have developed and approved the "Operational mobilization plan for forest firefighting in the Park "Synevyr" which has been agreed on by heads of village councils that are part of the national park.

"Employees of state protection service continiously conduct briefings with population and tourists, – the deputy head of the Department of Nature Protection of the Park "Synevyr" Ivan Putrashyk says. – We explain them what is prohibited to do in the forest to avoid the fire. For example, it is forbidden to set bonfire, throw away burning cigarette butts, leave flammable substances there, etc. In the park, there are information stands with a reminder to protect the forest from fire."

To date, there has been no occurrence of forest fires in the in the Park "Synevyr".
