Parents of a child, that drowned in Perechyn district, will be prosecuted

Officers of Perechyn police together with officers of juvenile prevention department of the National Police Office in Transcarpathian region will bring to responsibility the parents of a child, that drowned in the village of Turya Polyana

 On March 3, around noon, Perechyn police station received the information that in the village of Turya Polyana, a child had drowned in a river. The investigative team at the scene found out that before the tragedy, a 30-year-old man and his 3-year-old son had been in the garden behind the house. The father said that he was watching the child, but missed the moment, when the child went to the river, which flows near their house. According to preliminary information, the child slipped and fell into the water.

After examining the circumstances of the incident, the police will establish the liability of the parents. Such actions are punishable under Art. 184 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses, ie failure to perform parenting duties by parents or persons substituting them (warning or a fine ranging from one to three minimum tax-free incomes) or Art. 166 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, that is willful neglect of a child or a ward (restriction of liberty for a term of two to five years or imprisonment for the same term).
