Record number of participants of the group battle, record number of clubs, attractions not only for knights, a separate competition of archers and beautiful horses – all that is this year’s festival of medieval culture "Silver Tatosh" which started yesterday and continues today in Chynadiyevo, in St. Miklosh palace.
The ancient palace, which is known as the "Castle of Love", because it was the scene of the love story of Ilona Zrinya and rebel Imre Tekelya, for over ten years has been the center of cultural events in the region, and for five years now it has been the venue for one of the few really special and thematic festivals. The jubillee "Silver Tatosh" wanted to impress, and they succeeded.
Thus, in addition to the main attraction of the holiday – historical reenactors, such as medieval knights and beautiful ladies, there were several other areas where every visitor could see something interesting. The innovation of this year was the art section "LiTatosh" with the participation of writers and bards, but the main highlight was the appearance of beautufil horses. Which is very appropriate because a horse – the legendary Tatosh of the Carpathians – is the symbol of the holiday.
These horses stood out both for their realness, and the impressive size and beauty. The horses presented by the club "Carriage House" from Lviv belong to the breed that is considered a descendant of the knight horses – Tori. The horses are trained to perform certain tricks, and also jousting exercises that mimic wild boar hunt and battle with the enemies. This was demonstrated by guests from Lviv to the applause of the audience.
Hopefully, there will be more people on the second day of the festival, because the spectacle is worth it. The initiator and the organizer of the holiday Yuriy Slavik says that when he was starting the festival he did not expect that it would get to this level. Although, of course, he was hoping for it. Today, the "Silver Tatosh" is a known event among reenactors and is included in calendars of the clubs.
Today, Sunday, May 22, the "Silver Tatosh" lasts until evening, the program includes a lot of interesting things. At 18.00, after the medieval dances, battles, professional jousting fights, the ceremonial closing will take place, during which the participants will be awarded and the champion of this year’s tournament will be congratulated.
And the organizers dream or rather plan next year to organize not just mass and spectacular battles, but a real joust, during which the participants will be competing – yes, on horses!
