A meeting with Ivan Tehza and Volodymyr Yursa – the owners of three land plots near the Regional Music and Drama Theater purchased at the auction in 2009 – took place today in the Uzhgorod City Council. This was reported by the press service of the City Council.
The Acting Mayor of Uzhgorod, Deputy Mayor Igor Fartushok, the chief architect of the city, Oleg Borshovsky, first of all confirmed the previous offer that the city is willing to buy from the current owners the plots in front of the drama theater on the side of Lev Tolstoy street. However, the long and emotional discussion did not produce any results, both owners of the plots rejected this offer.
Following almost hour-long negotiations, both developers assured that they were ready to announce a contest for the construction on the territory followed by a review by a professional jury, which will determine the winner, while the representatives of the city authorities demand from the landowners to make the projects available to the public.
Recall that the public has been concerned about the issue of land "carve-up" in this area for years.
