Investigators of the Territorial Office of the State Investigation Bureau located in the city of Lviv, together with the Economic Crime Department in Transcarpathian region, detained the head a department of the Mukachevo border guard detachment of the Western Regional Directorate of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine when he was receiving illegal benefit.
This was reported by the press service of the State Investigation Bureau.
The Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine is carrying out the procedural control over the pre-trial investigation.
According to preliminary information, the head of a department of the border guard detachment developed a scheme for letting citizens through the checkpoint at the state border of Ukraine without appropriate customs and border clearance.
The official was arrested in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedural Code of Ukraine while receiving part of the unlawful benefit in the amount of 200 euros.
Previously, he had already received 4,000 hryvnias.
Investigators of the Territorial Office of the State Investigation Bureau located in Lviv are establishing involvement of other employees of the Chop border guard detachment and Transcarpathian Customs in the above-mentioned criminal offense.
The detainee is preparing a notice of suspicion of obtaining an unlawful benefit by an official (Part 3 of Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
If the guilt is proven, the border guard faces 5 to 10 years imprisonment
