From 21 to 28 of July, 2014, in Transcarpathia, there was the sixth Nationwide archaeological boot camp "Veretsky Pass", which this year, due to the war in the east of the state, was without excavations.
The camp took place on the verge of Transcarpathian and Lviv regions – between the villages of Verbyazh and Klymets near the final resting place of the Carpathian Sich members.
In connection with the war in the east, the camp organizers decided to enhance the program with more classes of firing, classes of warfare tactics, intense exercise, orienteering, mapping and so on. Traditionally, instructors held classes in unarmed combat, theoretical and practical training on medicine, camping and travelling, ideology, history of the national liberation struggle. Youth healthy spirit was supported with sports entertainment, paintball, volleyball tournaments and patriotic song singing. Overall, the camp was attended by about fifty boys and girls.
"We certainly need to maintain a healthy mind in the bodies of Ukrainian youth. The camp is a great way to show young people what it means to live in an environment where there is a spirit of brotherhood, mutual support and teamwork to achieve a common goal. There, they learn more about the history of the struggle for liberation, and working together brings much more valuable rewards than fruits of selfish existence of most Ukrainians. And only after a consistent and constant hardening of young people, a powerful monolithic nation will be forged. That will never allow to abuse Mother Ukraine and will do everything to stop the war in our country." – one of the organizers of the camp, the head of the NGO "Sokil" Tomas Lelekach said.
