Today (26.04.13) Chop inspectors of the customs post "Luzhanka" of the Chop customs office recorded the violation of customs legislation on import of a prestigious automobile "Lexus", released in 2012, worth 659,874.90 UAH. Should the court find the offender guilty, he will have to pay a fine in the amount of the full cost of the confiscated car.
A 33-year-old Transcarpathian returning from Slovakia via Hungary to Kyiv, during the customs control in the "green corridor" gave inspectors documents confirming his right to operate the passenger car "LEXUS RX450h", and a certificate of its registration, which indicated a resident of the Ukrainian capital as the owner.
However, customs officers and border guards had doubts as to the authenticity of the car body number and the documents, so it was decided to involve experts from research forensic expert center at the Ministry for Internal Affairs Office in Transcarpathian region to perform expert research of the car body number.
According to the specialist, the number of a body was affixed to a separate plate and welded onto the car body. It is not possible to establish the original number of the body due to its mechanical removal. Now they are checking the authenticity of the registration certificate and the keys that according to the preliminary information, are also forged.
According to the temporarily unemployed resident of Mukachevo, the luxury foreign car with the keys and documents was handed out to him on a parking lot in Bratislava (Slovakia) and he was asked to deliver it to Ukraine.
So, for the illegal transportation of the foreign car across the customs border of Ukraine, the protocol on violation of customs regulations was drawn up against the citizen of Ukraine under Art.483, Part 1 of the Customs Code of Ukraine. Now, the "Lexus" will be "decorating" the impound lot of the Chop customs until the court decision.
By the way, according to the received official reports from Interpol, this prestigious car was stolen in Germany.
