On the last Saturday of November, Ukraine commemorates the victims of Holodomor.
On the national commemorative day – November 25 – mourning march and lighting of candles will take place in the regional center of Transcarpathia.
Youth and the public, representatives of the authorities and religious organizations will gather on this day at 13.45 on Poshtova Square in Uzhgorod.
At 14.00, the mourning procession, headed by the leaders of the region and the city carrying candles and spikes of wheat, will march to the cornerstone laid on the site of the construction of the future memorial to commemorate the victims of the Holodomor in Ukraine (in front of the building of the medical faculty of UzhNU).
The participants will honor the memory of the millions of Ukrainians, who died a martyr’s death from starvation. At 14.40, they will light candles of memory.
According to the head of the Regional State Administration, the state flags of Ukraine in the region on that day will be at half-mast and entertainment activities will be restricted. It is recommended to make the appropriate changes to radio and television programs.
