On Narodna Square, they will plant tomatoes!

Reacting to making of a strange flowerbed on Narodna Square, "mutilated" with questionable reconstruction, Uzhgorod residents decided to plant on the square… tomatoes.   A sense of humor seems to remain the only way to fight for the square with the authorities. The current management, despite the fact that the reconstruction of the square was performed without proper approvals and public debate, has not stopped the project. The works continue there. So the community decided that since anyone can do anything on the main square of the city, then they will plant tomatoes there. The event is scheduled for June 12. And the initiator of it is the facebook user known for his concern about the city appearance – Bachi Ungvarsky

He writes: "On Narodna Square in Ungvar, they are planting anything they want – shrubs, trees, roses. Therefore, I had an idea to plant there something useful for the community. It’s too late for early cabbage, but it’s just the right time for tomatoes. So, on Friday the 13th, we are taking shovels, buying seedlings at the market and going to Narodna Square to do some volunteering."

By the way, this idea was also inspired by recent attempts to "improve" the square – when by some incomprehensible logic and approvals, they planted rhododendrons on the lawns on Narodna Square, allegedly on a private initiative of former Governor Ledyda. The community believes that tomatoes thus will be useful too.
