June 2, 2013, in Beregovo, the mayor election was held. Among the candidates for the position, there competed a representative of the Party of Regions Zoltan Babyak and a representative of the United Center Olga Bizilya.
Some online resources controlled by the ruling party spread false and sometimes brutal information about the female candidate, member of Beregovo City Council in order to discredit her. One such example was the publication of the alleged copy of the passport of the citizen of Hungary, issued to the name of Olga Bizilya.
As you know, dual citizenship in Ukraine is not officially allowed and strictly prohibited for civil servants. Only now the officials of Hungary gave the certified answer that denied such accusations and prove that a copy of the passport was forged. Mukachevo.net, in turn, asked Olga Bizilya to comment on the situation.
"Unfortunately, during the elections in Ukraine it has become customary that some candidates are subject of black PR. The publication of the copy of counterfeit passport of Hungarian citizen, allegedly issued to me, was a severe blow for me and my team, as well as for the voters who supported me. Internet publication "Novyny Zakarpattya" literally the day before the election published this "dirt" with only one purpose – to discredit me as a citizen of Ukraine, a civil servant and a candidate for a position of responsibility. I just did not have time to refute this information with documented evidence. But after the election I immediately appealed to the appropriate service – the department of migration and citizenship of Hungary. And only now I received an official response, which clearly states – Olga Bizilya is not a citizen of Hungary and the passport under the number, which was published by the notorious publication, has never been issued.
