This decision was made after a survey conducted among public organizations dealing with decentralization in the region, Oleg Luksha, co-coordinator of the Coalition of the Transcarpathian Public Association "Reforms for a Decent Life" said, – the golos.com.ua writes.
Back in April 2020, there were only 16 united territorial communities in Transcarpathia – now, there are 64 capable communities in the region. Oleksiy Petrov headed the region when the most important stage of the decentralization reform began – covering the entire territory of Ukraine with united territorial communities. And today he was named "Man of the Year for Decentralization Reform in Transcarpathia 2020."
The head of the region received such recognition due to his professional approach to decentralization reform and open dialogue with the public.
Also, for the first time in the history of Ukraine, Oleksiy Petrov created and headed the Advisory Council of Mayors at the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration.
Its activities, aimed at establishing close cooperation between all branches of government in the region, show high efficiency and productivity. Decentralization reform is first and foremost an opportunity to create successful, self-sufficient, financially viable territorial communities.
