Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said that some regions had received twice as much money as was needed to pay 300% bonuses, but the payments were critically low, and the officials responsible for that would be punished.
He said that during a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on May 6.
"The funds were transferred to the regions in full. Then the funds were transferred from the regions to the relevant medical institutions. We received from the regions the data on the funds necessary to pay salaries, gave much more money than was needed," – the head of the government said.
According to him, the analysis of the Cabinet of Ministers shows that not all health departments have been working properly with regard to payment salaries in March and April.
"Therefore, I will ask the heads of regional administrations to conduct an investigation into the accrual of salaries for doctors who are fighting coronavirus, and, based on the results of the official investigations, to impose appropriate disciplinary sanctions on the heads of health departments," – Shmyhal said.
He also criticised the heads of regional state administrations for failing to properly control the payment of 300% bonuses to doctors on the ground and promised to talk to them about at at a conference call.
