This week, seven new electric cars were added to the fleet of the Hungarian Parliament, the myhungary.net informs. At the solemn event dedicated to this, the Minister of Economy Mihai Varga said that in the near future Hungary would begin to develop its own electric cars. They plan to become leaders among other European countries in this area of the economy.
They also plan to actively encourage Hungarian population to switch to environmentally friendly vehicles. In particular, the government intends to increase the number of electric cars on the roads to 20,000 – 50,000. Now, the figure is only 600 cars. The owners of electric cars receive green license plates, they are allowed to park for free in several cities of the country and there are additional tax benefits provided for them. In the near future, a network of charging stations for cars of this type will be created.
It is worth to note that the Minister of Economy recently bought an electric car himself. As he noted, such car is much more economical to maintain and does not cause a detrimental effect on the environment.
