“Officials earn several million on the construction of school in Chervone”

– Says the administrator of the executive apparatus of the region council Mykhailo Popovych.

Recently, Governor Oleksandr Ledyda lobbied the allocation of almost 10 million UAH from the state budget to continue construction of a school in the village of Chervone in Uzhgorod district. In total, the construction of a new school requires almost 30 million.The construction was commenced in November of the last year. The regional and district officials laid the capsule in the foundation of the new building.   Today, 156 children study in one-story building of the village school. Instead, the new school will accomodate 360 students. Tender for the works won the same company that will erect a TB hospital in Nyzhnya Apsha – "Hemkostav-UA" LLC.
Mykhailo Popovych believes that it is impractical to build in the village such a huge school, which will be only half full. "However the logic of officials is clear – the larger the object, the more funds will be allocated, the more construction companies will earn, and therefore the bigger ‘cut’ will go to the official who lobbies for the construction. Thus, a school in the village of Chervone will cost taxpayers 30 million! By the way, six months ago in a village on Chervenyovo in Mukachevo district a two-storey kindergarten was opened, which was erected for just seven millions. Therefore, we can assume that officials will earn several million on school in Chervone" – suggests the deputy.
