At the checkpoint "Uzhgorod" on the Ukrainian-Slovak border, border guards together with customs officers prevented two attempts of illegal import of vehicles to Ukraine.
In both cases, suspicion of the border guards was caused by powers of attorney for operation of a minibus "Mercedes" (2002) with Norwegian registration and a passenger car "Ford" (1998) with Slovak registration driven by our countrymen. In cooperation with customs inspectors, they sent the notaries, who allegedly issued these powers of attotney, the inquiries to establish their validity. In response, they received documents whereby the relevant notaries confirmed that they had not issued the said notary powers of attotney, and that the seals and signatures were forged.
The cars were confiscated according to the established procedure. Their value is currently being established, the press service of Chop border guard detachment informed.
