Nobody was punished for cancellation of the autumn holidays everything was legal – the results of the check

The sudden cancellation of the autumn holidays in Uzhgorod was absolutely legal. This conclusion can be drawn from the results of the investigation by the prosecutor’s office.

"According to the results of investigation, no facts of improper performance of official duties in the actions of officials of the Uzhgorod City Council Education Department have been found, and there are no grounds for bringing them to disciplinary liability," – the Prosecutor of Uzhgorod Ivan Shtefaniuk reported in response to the information request.

Recall, on Friday, October 25, 2013, Uzhgorod city council executive committee at the last moment before the weekend surprised students, parents and teachers with the decision to move autumn holidays for the winter.

This situation, in turn, caused public outrage and even led to the so-called "schoolchildren riot".

Prosecutors of Uzhgorod reported that they had begun checking whether the decision had been adopted legally.

The Head of the Education Department of Uzhgorod City Council Oksana Babunych in response to the information request said: "The Order of the Education Department of Uzhgorod City Council dd. 10.25.2013 № 419 "On the transfer of the holidays" was sent to Uzhgorod schools at 14.11, 10.25.2013, ie at a time when the working day in schools was not over and the educational process was ongoing." Thus "according to the results of the check, no grounds for bringing officials of the Department of Education to disciplinary liability have been found."
