The Prosecutor General of Ukraine promises to thoroughly investigate the events on Maidan Nezalezhnosti in Kyiv on the night of 29 to 30 of November 2013.
This, in particular, was discussed at the meeting chaired by Prosecutor General Viktor Pshonka with the Minister of Internal Affairs, the Head of the Security Service, the deputies of the Prosecutor General and the heads of individual departments of the General Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine, the site of the Transcarpathian prosecution office reported.
According to Viktor Pshonka, peaceful protests must not end in that way. Therefore, they must find out who and to what extent is responsible for the night events.
"The people had the right to be on the Maidan.It is their constitutional right, and the task of law enforcement agencies first and foremost was to ensure the realization of this right" – he said.
The Prosecutor General of Ukraine pointed out that he would demand objective results of official investigations that began in the Ministry of Internal Affairs on behalf of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.
Today, December 1 is the Day of the Prosecutors of Ukraine.
