March 2, 2014, at the Regional Council, there was an emergency meeting with the heads of regional recruitment office, law enforcement agencies, State Emergencies Service in the region and Uzhgorod City Council on the situation in Ukraine in connection with the events in Crimea.
The participants of the meeting reported that the situation in Transcarpathia is stable, security forces work in emergency mode, carry out all the instructions of the government.
The Regional Council Chairman Ivan Baloha asked Transcarpathians to remain calm, to do their job responsibly, all agencies and civil society organizations to work as one team in this difficult situation, understand the actions of military and security forces. The main thing now is discipline, responsibility and unity.
It is not the time for confrontation. On the contrary, we all must unite now to defend the Ukrainian state.
The situation in the region is under control, the regional council is coordinating the activities. There is no reason to panic.
