No evidence of human trafficking has been found in Transcarpathia

On Thursday, May 30, the Regional State Administration hosted a round table discussion on "Implementation of the state policy in the field of combating human trafficking in Transcarpathian region by executive authorities, local governments, law enforcement agencies, community organizations and associations."

The roundtable was held within the project "Distribution of national mechanism for interaction of entities carrying out activities in the field of combating human trafficking." The discussion was led by the deputy head of the region Mykhailo Popovich. Representatives of the Ministry of Social Policy, OSCE projects in Ukraine, the International Organization for Migration in Ukraine have come to Transcarpathia to tell more about the project and means of combating human trafficking.

The project aims at prevention of trafficking, detection of violations in this area, as well as exchange of experience and training of effective methods of crime combating.

According to the Director of Social Welfare Department of the Regional State Administration Victor Matsola, this year no cases of human trafficking have been recorded in the region. But, since many Transcarpathians go to work abroad, they should have all the information to avoid becoming a victim of human trafficking. In order to protect the countrymen, in the settlements of the region specialists of the Center of social services for family, children and youth constantly conduct appropriate information campaign.
