Last week, after UzhNU academic council, during which the chairman of the regional council Ivan Baloga said the appointment of a new Acting Rector was a political decision, and that the Governor Alexandr Ledyda with the ZakSU Rector Fedir Vashchuk are involved in reorganization of Transcarpathian universities, staff comb-outs have increased in the university.
Thus, on Thursday UzhNU pro-rector for administrative work Victor Bulchak was dismissed from his post. The latter is the former rector’s (Nikolai Vegesh’) compatriot and before working in UzhNU he was managing the affairs of the Regional Council Executive Office. New pro-rector, appointed on Friday, is a former director of UzhNU Botanical Garden Dmitry Sojma.
The head of security service Zenec Rozlutskiy and the head of legal department Victoria Kopcha were fired too. In addition, Vitaliy Nikolaychuk has also begun "restoring order" at his own department – Biological. A 32-year-old PhD, Head of the Department of Zoology Kurtyak Fedor, who in March this year during the voting on this post beat a longtime Nikolaichuk’s friend Tiberiy Dudinsky has been fired.
UzhNU former rector, Professor Nicholai Vegesh predicts that Nikolaychuk is putting himself in even more legal troubles by such actions. We remind, a former pro-rector Alexander Slyvka and Igor Studenyak have already appealed their dismissal in court.
"In fact, it is a common thing when a rector chooses his team. But first you need to be elected to this position and only then to have a legal and moral right to form a new team. If a person does not want to resign but he is removed from office because of a reprimand, this leads to litigation. Therefore, a new administration should expect even more litigation. But as we have seen, the acting rector is already dismissing scientists, who were elected to office – heads of departments. This is an illegal action. Thus, they are preparing the ground for dismissal of any teacher who is inappropriate for UzhNU.
What concerns the dismissal of the head of the legal department, we may confidently say, a new head of the department shall be responsible for collecting incriminating evidence on the former administration of the institution"- says Professor Nicholai Vegesh.
