Next year, UAH 2.5 million is to be allocated for the protection of environment in Uzhgorod

The program of environmental protection in Uzhgorod for 2018-2022 was approved at today’s extraordinary meeting of the executive committee of Uzhgorod City Council. It was sent for revision at the last regular meeting.

The Program identifies the main environmental problems of the city:
– air pollution by stationary and mobile sources; – pollution of surface and groundwater;
– pollution of the environment with domestic waste;
– depauperization of biodiversity;
– insufficient level of environmental education and public awareness.

The strategy for solving these problems was also identified. In particular, it is proposed to develop and implement the city gardening projects, create new green areas (parks, gardens, etc.), make provisions for the preservation and expansion of green zones in the master plan of Uzhgorod; to carry out reconstruction of "Bozdosh" and "Pidzamkovy" parks; to clear the Uzh river bed; to form a bank of illustrative and informational materials on ecological problems and their solution in the city of Uzhgorod, etc.

In 2018, UAH 2.5 million will be allocated for the Program, in total over 5 years – more than UAH 8 million.

Subsequently, the Program should also be considered at the session of the City Council, – the press service of Uzhgorod City Council reported.
