Today, a mini-sculptor by Ferenc Erkel – Hungarian composer, pianist, conductor, teacher, founder of the Hungarian National Opera – was set up on the wall of the Uzhgorod Children’s Arts School, near the entrance door. The author of the work is Uzhgorod sculptor Mykhailo Kolodko.
The opening of the mini-sculpture was preceded by an official part held in the assembly hall of the school. The celebrations were attended by Uzhgorod Mayor Bohdan Andriyiv, the Consul General of Hungary in Uzhgorod Yozsef Buhajla, the Deputy Head of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Yaroslav Halas, the First Deputy Chairman of the Transcarpathian Regional Council Yosyp Borto, the Consul General of the Slovak Republic in Uzhgorod Miroslav Mojzita, the Head of the Consulate of Hungary in the city of Beregovo Matjas Siladi, People’s Deputy of Ukraine Vasyl Brenzovych, the Deputy Mayor of Uzhgorod Oleksandr Bilak, the Director of the National Hungarian Opera Silvestr Okovacs.
After the speeches of the distinguished guests, the director of the school Natalia Gromova invited to the stage the students of the school, who presented vocal and dance performances.
The establishment of the mini-sculpture was initiated by the Consulate General of Hungary in Uzhgorod. The Uzhgorod City Council supported this initiative of the diplomatic institution, the press service of the City Council informed.
