New banknotes in denomination of 2000 and 5000 forints will be introduced in March, the Myhungary.net informs.
Old banknotes can be used until July 31, 2017. After that, they can be exchanged at banks and post offices until 2018. And after that, they can be exchanged at the central bank until July 31, 2037.
New bills differ from their predecessors not only in appearance but also in the degree of protection from counterfeiting. There are new elements on the bills, and the old ones can now be found in new places. It is expected that the new notes will be easier to visually identify and harder to counterfeit.
