Chop border guards together with employees of the Fiscal Service prevented an attempt of illegal transporation of of a large batch of "sun stones" across the state border.
Thus, yesterday, a truck "Iveco" with a trailer driven by our compatriot arrived at the checkpoint "Uzhgorod". During the inspection of the vehicle, border guard service inspector became suspicious about the possible presence of a hiding place in the floor of the trailer, because the body frame did not matched the factory standards. In order to prevent illegal activities, it was decided to conduct in-depth inspection of the truck. As a result, the joint inspection group of border guards and customs officers found two specially made hiding places, which could be accessed only after the dismantling of additionally installed wood-based panels. One of the caches contained 29 packages with amber stones weighing a total of about 50 kilograms.
The found minerals and the trailer were seized according to the law.
