Nearly 25 kg of amber was found in Chop

More than two dozen kilograms of amber was seized today in the afternoon by the border guards at the checkpoint "Tisa", the press service of the Chop border guard detachment informed

 The "sun stones" were found jointly with customs officers during an in-depth inspection of a car Toyota Highlander, in which a 50-year-old resident of Transcarpathia was traveling to neighboring Hungary.  

When the border guards knocked on the gas cylinder, the muffled sound indicated the likelihood of foreign objects being inside. Later, they indeed found in the gas cylinder 24.5 kg of processed amber, packed in transparent plastic bags.

The vehicle inspection and the establishment of the exact amount and value of the stones are currently underway.
