Investigators of the specialized department for investigation of crimes in the field of transport of the Transcarpathian regional police opened a criminal investigation into an accident with lethal consequences. The vehicle was taken to the impound lot. The investigation continues.
The Transcarpathian police are establishing the circumstances of the road accident, which resulted in the death of a 35-year-old resident of Svalyava.
The fatal accident happened yesterday, February 27, around 19:45. The investigative at the scene found out that in the evening, on the road in the city of Svalyava, a 47-year-old foreigner driving a truck hit a woman who was walking in the middle of the road towards the village of Hankovytsia. The victim – a 35-year-old resident of Svalyava – died from the injuries at the scene of the accident.
The investigation department of the Transcarpathian regional police opened a criminal proceeding over the accident under Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Violation of traffic safety rules, which caused the death of the victim). Sanction of this Article provides for punishment by imprisonment for a term of three to eight years with or without deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to three years.
The vehicle was taken to the impound lot of the Svalyava police station. The pre-trial investigation in the case continues.
